I don’t think the proposal is specific or practical enough to be actionable.
If we want to vote on funding branding work- just as with dev, art, or other proposals- it should be proposed in detail, with specific actions, milestones and budget, by the person or entity purporting to perform the work. If the objective is to solicit the submission of such a proposal, in the absence of a capable and willing applicant, then an appropriate course of action might be to draft an RFP or even propose to draft one for a fee.
Sorry – I may have I misunderstood the purpose of the Idea Incubation section. This certainly was’t written as “ready to vote” proposal… it was just a general idea that felt like it was worth additional discussion.
Lisa Pillette discussed some very specific brand elements that feel like they’d be worth articulating more explicitly. In my mind, it was less about getting someone to come up with new ideas and more about articulating the things that make Toadz what it is.
If the Idea Incubation section isn’t the right forum to start that discussion, we can certainly take it back to Discord and figure out how to make it more specific and actionable before starting the incubation.
My comment was in reference to a snapshot vote being created using this thread as a basis, though I see that it was not you who took this action.
Further comments on this, from the community-grants section of our discord:
" I think there’s merit to the concept, but I also think there’s merit to setting a pretty rigorous precedent for snapshot voting, just to make sure that we don’t get into a situation where we pass a motion but then aren’t clear how to act on it.
That being said, this is all a big experiment and the only way we can learn together is by doing.
One concern I have, as someone who’s worked with a bunch of branding consultants in the past, is that it’s a lot of work.
It’s a lot of work getting to the rigidly defined scope, milestones, fee structure. This can be mitigated by a very well defined initial proposal or RFP into proposal (per my comment above).
It’s a fair bit of work stickhandling the process of working with branding folks over the course of an engagement, as they typically require a lot of feedback and input. This can be partially mitigated by handling 1. well, but it will also require us to think about how we want to interact with a branding entity as a community in order to effectively provide coherent, actionable feedback to them.
Ultimately, even if we work with the best branding talent on earth, they’re not going to be able to tell us what our brand is. We have to tell them and they will concoct the best strategy for communicating that identity for us.
I wonder if it might be a useful exercise for us to do a community survey of what toad holders as individuals imagine the toadz brand to be, to get an aggregate snapshot of what we currently believe as a group."
Just checking back in here if anyone has been working on boiling down a document of what we need going forward with someone like Lisa.
CrypToadz values: does someone want to volunteer to gather some ideas from the community? A scheduled Twitter Space or Discord Town Hall makes sense to do this in real time where ideas can flow more freely.
Deliverables: Let’s be explicit and as detailed as possible like @HEEEEEEEEEEE said
Representative: Who will be the main person to engage back and forth with Lisa (or other)? Maybe it can be a weekly scheduled community call (Discord/Zoom)?
Would like to see some action on this – some really great ideas throughout this thread that shouldn’t go to waste.
